Kidney and Cardiac Department need a special mention here. Mahavir Hospital is the first hospital in the state of Andhra Pradesh in the private sector to provide Haemodialysis and perform Kidney Transplantation surgeries.
Over 1,000 dialysis sessions are carried out every month, out of which 40% (i.e., around 400 cases) are taken up under the Aarogyasri Scheme.
In addition to Health Care and Academics, the Trust established Bhawan Mahavir Medical Research Centre in 1983. The Centre is recognized by the Department of Scientific & Industrial Research and supported by organizations such as the World Bank, WHO, and DFID UK. Research is being conducted in Genetics and Immunology. Both Osmania University and the University of Hyderabad have recognized the centre for awarding Ph.D. degrees for the research work conducted here.
So far, 30 candidates have received Doctorates. More than 40 Research Projects have been completed and others are in progress. Over 50 Clinical Trials have been carried out to test the efficacy of various drugs developed by reputed international pharmaceutical companies.
The Public-Private Mix DOTS Programme for Tuberculosis control, funded by DFID and sponsored by WHO, covers a population of over 500,000. It has received recognition from the State & Central Governments, DFID, WHO, IUATLD, and the World Bank.
Vikalangh Kendra provides artificial limbs free of cost to the poor and needy, offering essential support to differently-abled individuals.
The Cardiology Department is fully equipped with modern facilities, including a Cath Lab. Affordable packages are offered for Angiogram, Angioplasty, and Cardiac surgeries. The hospital performs approximately 20 Angioplasty surgeries per month, maintaining affordability for all sections of society, irrespective of caste, creed, or religion.
